Genesis 7:16June 5 Morning |
They went into the ark with Noah as God had commanded, male and female, of all animals in which is the breath of life and the ark was shut by the LORD. |

Noah was shut in away from all the world by the hand of divine love. The door of God's purpose stands between us and the secular world where the wicked one lurks. We are not of the world even as our Lord Jesus was not of the world. Into the sin, the partying, and the vain pursuits of hedonism we cannot enter. We cannot play on the dark side with the children of darkness, for our heavenly Father has shut us in. Noah was shut in with his God. "Come into the ark," was the Lord's invitation, which clearly showed that he himself intended to dwell in the ark with his servant and his family. Thus all of God's chosen will dwell with God and God with them. We should be happy to be enclosed in the same circle which contains God in the Trinity of his persons, Father, Son, and Spirit. Let us never ignore the call, "Come, my people, enter into your chambers, close the doors around you and hide yourself for a while until the flood of stess has receded". Noah was so shut in no evil could reach him. Floods only lifted him heavenward and the winds just blew him on his way. Outside of the ark all was ruin, but inside all was rest and peace. Without Christ we perish, but in Christ Jesus there is perfect safety. Noah was so shut in that he could not even desire to come out, and those who are in Christ Jesus are in him forever. They shall never leave safe harbor, for eternal faithfulness has shut them in, and infernal malice cannot drag them out. If the Prince of the house of David shuts it, no man can open it. When the last days come, the Master of the house shall rise up and shut the door. It will be in vain for mere humans to knock, and cry Lord, Lord open for us, for the same door which shuts in his people who obey him, will shut out the foolish who have rejected him, forever. Lord, help me obey you and please shut me in by your grace. |
